On December 1, 2016, ONA nurses at Mary Rutan reached a tentative agreement on a new 4 year contract. The contract calls for an 8.5% wage increase over the course of the contract. In an era where the vast majority of workers are seeing stagnant wages, ONA nurses are uniting for fair wage increases. The contract also includes a 10% shift differential for all nurses who work a second or third shift outside the hours of 8am and 5pm. In addition, the contract includes a 100% tuition reimbursement policy for all nurses covered by the agreement. As with all ONA contracts, safe staffing and quality patient care remain a priority. The contract comes after nurses at Mary Rutan came together, with the assistance of ONA staff, to bargain for a fair contract that takes into account the rights and dignity of nurses.
