Nearly 900 nurses represented by the Ohio Nurses Association at Akron General Medical Center ratified a new 3-year agreement on May 4th. The nurses were able to achieve several victories, including an increase in the amount of orientation time – a necessity for new nurses to feel comfortable providing care when transitioning to the hospital.
The nurses were also able to secure a 2% per year increase in salary each year of the contract, lower health insurance costs and an increase in vacation time. The new contract also changed the float pool differential from $2 per hour to a $750 bonus.
Congratulations nurses on a successful contract campaign!
